Stances

Heyy, hope everyone had a great start to the week! I definitely did not want to get up this morning, but I never want to get up in morning lol. I went to school, nothing much there. Went to work and was teaching kids today when I was surprised by how bad their stances were. In multiple classes, I had to review what a front stance, back stance, and walking stance looked like. So I guess this is a reminder to make sure you check your stances in poomsaes and self-defenses! Sometimes, you grow without realizing it and before you know it your front stance is still 2 feet long from when you were 8 years old! Anyways, I got home and finished up some requirements. Today I woke up and went to school. Nothing spectacular happened, Just a regular day of learning. When I came home, I got through with the daily requirements. It is almost like a mental brain break to come home and be active before jumping right into homework. After all my requirements were finished, I did homework / studying. In school we were introduced to TWO new projects due by Thursday. These shouldn't be too hard. I then went to Science Olympiad and started getting forensics done with my partner.Later in Janurary we're going to compete and try our very best at Virgina Tech! Today I had pointe and ballet, pointe is so much harder than what I thought it was. Mostly this was because of how hard the shoe is. Anyways, I did pretty good.

Today was a pretty normal Monday. I got up to do my mile and requirements before school. School was mostly just prepping for tests and stressing about Hugh school registration. After school was TKD. I got a mentor and mentee session in as well as a leadership credit. Today I also learned more of staff form 2. My body is still tired from Saturday, especially the early wake up, but it’s getting better. Glad Monday’s over and hope everyone has a good week!

2nd Monday of the Cycle

Today was a pretty chill day. School was pretty normal as I didn't have much work. In PE, we did stations, and I got to play "Slamball" and Basketball, which were fun. When I came back from school, I finished most of my homework and did some of my physical requirements. I am now getting ready to go to Black Belt Class. When I return, I will finish the rest of my requirements, take a shower, eat dinner, watch some TV, and probably go to sleep. Bye.

Arvaan's Diary - Day 9 Of Black Belt Journey

Today was very busy! I woke up at 6:15 and got ready for school. At school, I just spent some time goofing around and studying! After school, I came home and took my shower. After that i played some games and did practice! I went to my classes to practice there too! after that I came home and watched one piece! Have a great day, everyone! :0

First day as a white belt in a while

Today when I got to school, I told my friend Jackson, how much progress I made on a show that we are making. The show is called "4 boys, 1 car". And of course, we made it in google slides. I'll see if after this first episode, I can make it available for you to watch. It is almost done so I will see if I can get it done by Friday. Since it is mine and my friend's time animating, it will look weird but, it will look better when we progress with the series. Today at recess, I scored a goal in soccer. At PE, we played soccer again. Our teams were good in PE but at recess, my team passed to me 1 time, not joking. And I scored that one time. So the last time I came to a Pittsburgh Steeler football playoff game was 1995 when the Chargers were the San Diego Chargers, Steelers lost so hoping to break the jink 31 years later. We will see having fun back on home turf.

We woke up ate breakfast when to the Attic to put Christmas decorations up.  Then we went to Walmart, and the power went out. Then we had to do laundry, and then we prepared stuff for school.

Today was very calm. I started my day by going out with my friends. We hit up a couple shops but I didn’t buy anything for myself. We got lunch together which was basically my breakfast as I didn’t eat anything in the morning. After that, I went to my tutoring session where I worked on a practice test then reviews afterwards. When I got home I stretched for a bit and got ready for bed.

Today was relaxing. I was very sore in my abs, but otherwise I wasn't to sore anywhere else! We went to the bass pro shop and then to target. When we got home we had some dinner and then we just relaxed. These are definitely my favorite kind of Sundays!

Rest day

Today is Sunday, my rest day. What I did was not really a rest day, but still relaxing. I went to church, church was fun. I got 2 candies in the morning because we had to build a temple and the team that won get 2 pieces of candy, and the losing team gets only 1 piece of candy. After that, I went to go shopping for my second cousin's 2nd birthday. When we finished shopping, I got home and played on my computer. Then, I went to her birthday party. After the party, we went shopping for food so I can write about my 30 days during my nutrition part of the cycle. I had been wanting to get into the hot tub at home, so after we got in and the groceries put away, I changed into my bathing suit and got in. Apparently, it was 39 degrees outside...

1/11/26 Another Relaxing day

Today is the day after the pretest, and I actually feel good for some odd reason. I don't feel much soreness as I ran 3 miles for the first time ever consecutively. Maybe I just need to go even harder. Anyways I woke up, had breakfast, and went to faith formation for about an hour. I got home and watched the playoff games today, as they were all entertaining. I went to the gym too to show my pullups (can barely do one /:) but Im going to mainly focus on that this cycle. I also got a mile in with not much discomfort. I only felt a slight burn near the end. Now im watching the patriots' chargers game and about to go to bed.

Today was fun.  I went to church and then I chilled with my friend the whole rest of the day.  He just left.  I ran my mile with him.  He helped with my video game while I did my workouts.  I just showered and brushed my teeth and now going to sleep.

On To Week 2!

Heyy everyone! Read a lot of journals saying you all are pretty sore, which is very understandable (I am too)! Something to help with that is stretching and rolling out your muscles, it may hurt in the moment but it should feel better afterwards and help you be sore for a shorter amount of time. My day consisted of sleeping in (which felt really nice), poomsae class, requirements, and then a birthday party that I just got back from. I'm tired but I'm not tired, I don't know if that makes sense but yeah. I'm definitely going to bed early tonight. Have a great start to your week tomorrow! ~ Peyton

I find myself often on these Sundays using them as a rest day which is just what I did. Although I was able to run 3 miles today which I felt good about and get all my requirements done before lunch. But the rest of the day I just stretched and watched football.

OK so, today when I woke up I did the laundry and then went to the grocery store to get paper towels for my grandma. When I got home I played on my computer until it was time to go to my grandmas house. I go to my grandmas house every Sunday, when I got home I did my requirements.

I stayed the night at my friend’s house yesterday and  I woke up there around 7. My whole body ached from the pre-test and I was super tired. I had some breakfast and my friend  wanted to play soccer so I just passed the ball with him. After I left his house I got home and had lunch. After lunch I had a chess class and I had a snack. For dinner I had some rice and now I'm about to sleep.

Sunday 1/11

Started the day with Poomsae class. Lots of work on preps, definitely needed. Very glad that I went as it helped leftover soreness. We also had some partner stretching and that helped tremendously. Slow leg raises don't necessarily sound like a hard thing to do...to those that haven't done them🤣 Cranked out some more requirements this afternoon and went for a walk too. I am so happy that I had today to rest after the pretest. Yesterday was a lot so I am sore in some places. Sleeping this morning felt great though. Today we went to Bass Pro Shops and Target to spend some Christmas money. When I got back I biked a my mile and did my requirements. Now we’re watching football and eating dinner. Tomorrow is back to school… unfortunately. Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Arvaan's Diary - Day 8 Of Black Belt Journey

Today was pretty good. I first woke up a bit late but I started doing exercise! I did pushups, burpees, and jump ropes. After that I went to the shops to get a mouth guard and another protection I forgot! After that I came home and has some chicken nuggets! Have a nice day! :)

65 TRYING TO BE 35

So for the pretest i tried to puch myself see what I have, what I am made of, I work out regularly so what to see. I did each mile of the 4 miles faster than the first goal one check. Did all my pushups so on and tried to do plank but it hit me then, I had the shakes so only did a minute. Then today my knee was just not working, so sore I barley slept last night. I think it will get better in a few days, but I really do have to remeber to be happy I am still doing this at 65 and keep myself healthy.

I woke up very late today, around 10 am. My dad made chicken sausage and it was pretty good (I'd give it a 8/10). I then got some stuff out of the way, like my basic exercises, projects, poomsaes, self defense, and kicks. I practiced a bunch of rocks for my science class. I watched videos oversimplifing WWII ghettos for my English presentation.

Today I woke up at 9:30, this is very much sleeping in for me, usually I wake up rather early on weekends. When I woke up, I wasted no time getting to my requirements. I got those knocked out pretty early in the day. That means the rest of the day was left for completing homework and recovery time. Nothing else eventful happened, the rest of my day and night was pretty lowkey.

January 11-Day After Pretest

Yesterday was the pretest, and after completing the mile, the physical requirements, the written test, helping with a class, and having leadership, I was exhausted. When I returned home, it was 12 PM. I was so hungry, so I ate a lot of food and took a nap. I thought I would only be asleep for 1 to 2 hours, but I woke up at 6 PM. I didn't think I was that tired, but... I was. When I woke up, there were guests at my house, and we were having a party, so I didn't have time to log in my requirements or journals. I got a little sad, because I was having a streak with my journals, but sadly it ended. Now, let's talk about how I did in the pretest. I really surprised myself with the mile, being 8:20, and thought I was going to do great today....

Today we had the pretest. I woke up at 5am so I could get ready and get to the track on time by 6:30. When I got there I waited a bit and then did my run with the other Bo Cho’s. We then went to the North Charlotte location for the physical/mental exam which I did decently on. Overall, I think I did well but there is room for improvement.

Today we did our pretest and it was very hard. My Papa said it reminded him of a military workout and it was proud of me for the way that I pushed through and completed my task.

1/10/26 PRE TEST

I woke up today at 5 and I barely got myself out the door. I did my run and I tried to pace myself with master Marcus but he has STAMINA, I barely kept up. After the run I got pretty average requirements on my workouts. After the pre test I went to help the class at KT Harrisburg and called it a day. My parents had to go shopping for my sister and they took me to my friend’s house after.

Today was a long but solid day. I woke up at 4:30 AM, got myself together, and headed out for the Pre‑Test this morning. I ran 4 laps around the track, then came in for the written and physical portions. I also went through my poomsaes, and honestly, everyone did a really good job today the energy was strong and focused. After everything wrapped up, I came back home, studied for a while, got some work done, and cleaned up my space just to reset my mind a bit. The day started at 5:00 for me. I was at the track by 6:00 to start my run. surprisingly I actually like running in a neighborhood with hills rather than on a flat track. I feel like my lower legs got fatigued easier when they hit that ground at the same angle every time. In a neighborhood, there are hills which prevent this from happening. Anyway, the pretest was continued, we finished up the physical requirements, and then went directly into class / pre test poomsae test. After all of that, I came home, grabbed something to eat, and then started with the rest of my physical requirements that the pre test did not cover. After all was complete, I had a pretty leisurely rest of my day and night. Until next time, - Lucas

1/10/26 Pretest

Today was the pretest. I hadn’t woke up at like 5:20 in a long time but surprisingly I didn’t feel tired  That much. on the 3 miles we got there at like 6:15 and I did each mile in around 10 minutes, my final time being 30:37. Then we went to do the rest of the pre test stuff and I felt like I did decent on them. My favorite is the jump rope though as I loved watching rocky with my dad and seeing them train. If you hadn’t watched any rocky movies I suggest you do. After the pretest and poomsaes. I went home and took a nap as to catch up on some sleep and I felt like I deserved it. Then I watched the panthers game…. Butttt they ended up losing by 3. Anyways that was it for today so goodnight.

Today I didn't like having to wake up so early, but I think I did ok on my pretest.  There's a lot of improvement I can do on my forms though.  After that, I went to a spot with my mom, friend and his mom to watch the Panther's game.  I'm now in my bed!

Pre-test day

Today as soon as I woke up at 5:30a.m., I grabbed my water, my junior instructor's book, my jump rope, a pen, and my black belt book. I studied so hard last night and this morning to get ready for the pre-test. I even studied staff form 1 and double stick form (I didn't really need to do that, but I thought I needed to do it for some reason). I thought in my head the whole time "what if I forget all of the stuff-". I panicked then I got my confidence back. When I got done with poomsaes, I was so sore. The pre-test really was a challenge, but I got through it. Pre test! 1/10

It was hard to wake up this morning, but I am happy the pre test is done and that it went well! The mile was not as hard as I was expecting, and I think the poomsaes went well. I was also surprisingly not super tired! For the rest of the day we just relaxed. Overall I think it was a good day, and good job to everyone!

First week of cycle is officially done! Waking up this morning for the pretest definitely hurt… but I’m really proud of my performance today. Also, running my miles wasn’t as hard as I thought. I am now super tired! The rest of the day I spent relaxing. Im disappointed about the Panthers loss though!! I know Im going to sleep well tonight 😅 Everyone did a great job today!

Today was the pre-test I had to wake up early and went to the track for the running portion then I went to the dojan for the rest of the physical part I think I did pretty good on that then we did some Poomsae's and didn't have time for self-defense but I think I definitely have to work on that and then I went home and practiced

I felt good on the pre-test, especially the mile I found myself being able to go much faster then usually. The poomsae portion was also good there wasn't anything major I messed up. Obviously there's still going to be tweaks and many more to come but it was still a good day.

Today was the day of the pre test! I woke up super early at 5:00 and ate some eggs. I felt good because I get to run laps, and its also Saturday! As soon as I arrived at the track, I started running but was told that its not my turn yet! I was so exited that I forgot how hard the pre test would be. I had to do four laps around the track but I did some extra! When I came to the taekwondo pre test, We instantly started and I introduced myself to my partner. His name was Jacob! Still Kickin'

Overall awesome day!  Except for going to the wrong track(palm slaps forehead), I was really proud of myself today.  Ran 4 miles without walking or stopping, decent time.  I feel I set the bar pretty high for myself on almost everything physically.  No mistakes on poomsaes during the pre test.  Raced over to the Harrisburg dojang right after class was dismissed to teach a class.  Also got in a mentee session.  Looking forward to a nice rest day tomorrow with some possible icy Hot patches.  Have a great weekend everyone!

A Dark & Early Morning!

It was so nice to put a face/voice to everyone's name today! I was so proud of all of you who came out and completed the pre-test before the sun was even up! Although some need a little more practice than others, I saw really great effort today and was very proud of all of you. BBC is really hard and everyone has different ways of pushing through. You have to find your way, what works best for you may not work best for someone elese and that's ok. Anyways, my run went really well. I achieved my goal of being sub 40 for 4 miles!! Once I got back to Lake Norman TKD, I still had to work but then I came home and watched some TV while I did the rest of my requirements. I worked ahead on some stuff today and I'm hoping I won't be too sore tomorrow!...

Pretest Eve

Today was what we named years ago my cancerversary.  The day that I was given my breast cancer diagnosis 14 years ago.  I celebrated it by being on the black belt cycle, and I really do mean that.  This day will always remind that I am tougher and stronger than I think.  Sometimes it's the hardest things that teach you the most important lessons. So embrace the hard and scary things and challenges because as my mentee and friend, Marina, says "We can do hard things." And life is good once you get through it! Happy Pretest Eve!

Today I woke up and went to school. I had a math quiz today but it was not too difficult. We began to work on our project for English as well. When I got home I was able to get in some curriculum studying in and then I went to black belt class. After that, we had advanced sparring which went well. Once I got home I showered and now I have to sleep early in order to be prepared for the pre-test.

Day before pretest

Today when I got to school, I realized that tomorrow is the pretest for the black belt cycle. Well, I am excited but, I am also nervous. It is my first time doing all of the forms and self-defense at one time. Also, I have never taken a physical fitness test before. My allergies have also been messing with my sleep and my focus (because I need to blow my nose a lot). After school, I took some medicine and a nap before my black belt class. I also did sparring tonight. After I got home from taekwondo, I reviewed everything for the pretest. I hope I do well in the morning. I day was pretty normal other than the nerves I was feeling. I went to school and we didn’t really do anything interesting and I was so tired after school. I had a ton of homework so I couldn’t go to tae kwon do and I was pretty bummed but it’s all right. I had some dinner and now I’m about to sleep.

Nervous

I am feeling very nervous and excited for tomorrow. It is the Pretest tomorrow, and I will have to do many exercises and requirements. I hope I run a decent mile time and will try my best for the other exercises. Today, I had a normal day in school and had a math test, which I did excellently in. I just came back home and finished all my homework, and took a shower. I didn't get to go to a class today because I am doing the white belt challenge, and I am not allowed to go to the black belt class. That is a severe obstacle for me because I didn't get to practice my poomsae, self-defense, etc, before doing my Pretest. I think I will be fine and am practicing today for tomorrow. I hope I do well tomorrow and wish everyone the very best.

Heyy everyone, hope everyone had a wonderful week! My day consisted of school, work, mentee session, BBC, mentor session, dinner, then requirements. Thankfully I didn't have any homework due tonight. A little nervous to run 4 miles tomorrow but it is just pre-testing so at least I don't have to beat a specific time! For tomorrow: bring water, jump rope, wear running clothes, bring uniform/belt, book and pen. Personally I would also bring a sweat towel and an extra change of clothes if you are riding the bus back, as well as some deodarant, and hair ties! Today I woke up like normal and went to school like usual. I went on with my day until I got to chemistry. We had a test in that class as I mentioned in my previous journals. I thought it went pretty ok, I got my score back later in the day, I got a 106% (all questions answered correctly + extra credit questions.) I was super stoked about that. I finished my school day with a smile and when I got home, I started with the daily requirements. Got all those knocked out and then headed over to King Tiger for the weekly black belt class. I got home and relaxed for the evening because I will be at the track at 6:00 AM for my pre-test run. Good luck to everyone on the pre-test tomorrow. - Lucas

I didn't really do much today just bought some bricks to practice on and ran a mile besides that im just getting ready for tomorrow we will see how that goes I forgot my predictions so im probably gonna look at those again tomorrow and see if im right anyways peace

This morning I got to school early for art club! It was very exciting because we started painting the mural that I designed! After than I went if a field trip with my class to Hough High school. I learned a lot about what High school will be like. I’m a little nervous but overall really excited! After school was BBC, we did some great prep for the pretest so I’m feeling confident. I really took it easy today to prepare also. I’m not looking forward to waking up early tomorrow but I am super ready for the pretest! Light Day

Took it pretty light today.  Still got some requirements and classes done, but chose not to do some others.  I'd like to have something in the tank tomorrow for all the things we need to do in a short amount of time.  Once all is said and done, I still have to race back to the Harrisburg dojang for classes.  I'm sure I will sleep like a log tomorrow night!  Kind of nervous about the Panthers game, but of course I am really hoping for a victory.  Good luck to all candidates tomorrow!  See you guys bright and early!

Today was a lot of activity I woke up early for a club before school and I had a substitute in the least favorite class which was great then after school I went to taekwondo and I'm going to bed early for the pretest tomorrow (good luck everyone)

Arvaan's Diary - Day 6 Of Black Belt Journey

Today was mediocre day at school. Because we didn't do anything special. I woke up at 6:20 am and started getting ready for school! I turned in my homework, and has some free time. I got some candy for behaving too in the classroom. Also, a krispy kreame donut made my day! Once I came home, I took my bath, and played some games too. After that I ate full plate of rice. Today was a good day, school was pretty fun. After school I went to the gym where I got majority of my physical requirements for the day done except poomsaes, self defense, and kicks which I did when I got home.

Sparring

Yesterday was my first sparring class.  I will say sparring kicked my butt, but it was more fun than I expected.  Looking forward to today's rolls and falls class.  First week almost complete!

 I have a test at school, and it is about math we are learning decimals and fractions. And it is 25 questions and I hope I get 80-100 on the test because I am very good at decimals and fractions.And if i do my grades will go upp a lot.

Thursday 1-8-2026

Today was my first full day of school this week. Back home, I practiced my Taekwondo and did some exercises. I am still trying to learn how to jump rope but it is not clicking yet. Tonight I relaxed playing with my rabbit Astro.

1/8/26 sparring and pe

Today was a pretty good day as I got a ton of stuff done. Of course I woke up and went to school, where we finally did something good in pe, cause for the first two quarters was health which were boring, and then we switched to pe and all they have been doing was talking and yapping a ton about rules and stuff in pe, but we actually got to play something today. After school I went home and ate this tuna wrap thing, and then went to Tkd where I got a mentee, and mentor session done. I also went to sparring for today in the first time in like forever, and also assisted class and did leadership.

Journal #2 - 1/8/2026 - Lalitha

Today was a full but productive day. I had to go in‑person for a midterm this morning, and once I got back home, I spent some time studying and getting a few things organized. After that, I cleaned up the space a bit, which honestly helped reset my focus. Later in the afternoon, I headed to TKD. I helped out for a while and then had my mentor session (Thanks Master Weeks :> ), which went really well. I also finished my requirements afterward, so that was a big relief and a solid way to end the day. Class

I made a vending machine out of the boxes of cereal I ate in the morning. Nothing really happened today at school. For lunch, I had spaghetti. At recess, the score was 0-0 again. I took some shots, but I was unlucky. Thankfully, my legs felt 100% better today. When I got home, I got on code.org and coded for about 20 minutes. Today was fun! I slept late so I couldn’t get my requirements in before school… oops! At school I got to miss some classes because I went on a field trip for my art class. We went to studio 345 and made a tote bag! When I got back I had a big social studies test! I am very happy with the end result :) after school I went to sparring class. After sparring I did some homework, biked my mile and finished my requirements. I am still sore in some places so I am going to really take it easy before the pretest.

My dad was good I had school I just slept for 1 and 2nd block and at 4th block I had gym and I tried  to  hit a new bench pr of 180 but I fail so I’m going to stick with 175.

I started my day at 5:30 when I got ready for school. I had to catch up on my math homework and also find potential teachers to get a recommendation letter from. Once I got home I finished up the remaining homework I had and hit a quick mile run. I see some improvement but I know I can be better. When I got back I studied some poomsaes and did my physical requirements.

Today was extremely eventful. My day started at 4:30 in the morning. I got up this early because I planned to knock out my miles before school. I decided that I am only running in 4 mile increments a couple times a week, because that is the distance I will be required to run for the pre and final physical test. I ate a bit of fruit and then began running. I finished up at around 5:40. I got myself prepared to go to school and then off I went. School was nothing fun, just teachers doing their thing (assigning assignments). I got home, and got to work on my requirements. After a little while, I went to sparring class, it was a blast. After sparring I was left with a couple hours to study for my chemistry test tomorrow.

January 8th

Sometimes it feels like there isn't enough time in the day to do everything that needs to be done. I think it's okay to feel that way because, sometimes, there isn't. The only thing to do is to push through and get it done anyways.

Today I went to the middle school basketball game.  Girls and boys lost but everyone played good.  Has me excited to play basketball again.

Thursday

Had a great class with Grandmaster Evins and some other awesome folks this morning.  I also learned I have to run 4 miles Saturday morning before all of the other physical things.  Yeah!!(slight sarcasm).  I'll get it done.  My diet has been pretty clean since starting the cycle, so proud of myself there so far.  Looks like I'll start my cleanse next week.  Still need to do digital detox and nutrition challenge, but no rush yet for those.  Got some more requirements and classes knocked out today.

Today was pretty good. I woke up kind of late today, so I didn’t have much time to  do the requirements. School was alright, nothing really interesting happened. After school I finished the requirements and then went to sparring. When we got home I finnish up some homework and now I can relaxing and getting ready for bed.
