Hurt/Sore

Today started off on a strong note before taking a rough turn in the early afternoon. I woke up super early with a lot on my mind, but heading to black belt class turned out to be really productive—we spent the entire session working on weapons forms. Since I'm still learning the material, I recorded everything on video with my mentor so I can study and lock it down over the next few days. Right after class, I rushed home to pick up a few of the boys on our flag football team and headed over to North Mecklenburg Park for practice. We had a great one-hour session with a solid turnout. While we didn't have the full roster present, the group that came showed a lot of promise. We definitely need one more full-team practice before next Saturday's season kickoff, which also happens to be our physical and written testing weekend. After dropping the boys back off, I went home to inspect my lawn mower and then ran to Lowe's to pick up oil and an air filter for one of my black belt cycle requirement tasks. Unfortunately, as I was setting up to change the oil, I was moving cinder blocks to elevate the mower, turned, bumped into something, and dropped a block right onto the back of my ankle. It hurt intensely and is still throbbing, so I’ve been taking Aleve and icing it for the rest of the day. I'm really hoping it recovers by tomorrow because I need to get moving and lock down those weapons techniques. I hope everyone else is having a great weekend!
